Frequently Asked Questions

What do I receive as a volunteer?

As a volunteer at a TGC conference you will receive:

  • Complimentary conference registration
  • A conference t-shirt to wear during your shifts
  • Access to the volunteer lounge with complimentary snacks and drinks
  • Reimbursement up to $12 for meals that occur during your shift
  • Reimbursement up to $15 for parking (one time each day you are scheduled)
What do I do as a volunteer?

As a volunteer you commit to serve approximately 15 hours during the conference. One month prior to the conference you will be assigned a volunteer role and shift assignment. The shifts span from 4-6 hours. Roles range from serving as an usher, greeter, bookstore guide, and check-in attendant. When you are not scheduled, you have the freedom to attend any sessions free of charge in exchange for your time.

Do I need to register for the conference as a volunteer?

No. Volunteers will be registered by the Volunteer Coordinator upon approval as volunteers exchange their service for the conference registration fee.

What sessions of the conference will I get to attend?

You may attend any session when you are not scheduled for a shift. During a shift, at his/her discretion, your shift supervisor or team leader may dismiss you to attend keynote and breakout sessions once they have begun. You must report back to your assigned shift as directed by your supervisor.
